ULAN BATOR, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed in water-related accidents in Mongolia in one day, the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said Saturday.
Both drowning accidents occurred in different sections of Tuul River on Friday evening. The body of a woman was found in the river stretch that crosses Ulan Bator, and that of a man was recovered in Mongolia's Tuv province, said a statement from NEMA.
As of Saturday, several major rivers, including Onon, Balj, Tuul and Terelj, have surpassed warning levels, the agency said, adding that water levels of these rivers are expected to rise in the coming days.
The agency urged people to stay away from flooding rivers to prevent possible accidents.
A total of 70 people have been killed in water-related accidents across Mongolia since the beginning of 2025, according to the agency. ■
