KABUL, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Construction of five water supply projects was launched in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province on Saturday, the state-run Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) reported.
Initiated by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in Shirzad, Khoyani and Bati Kot districts at a cost of 26.6 million afghani (around 398,000 U.S. dollars), the water supply networks will provide clean water to 1,750 families after completion, the report said.
The projects will also help farmers bring more land under irrigation in the three districts, it said.
On Wednesday, the Afghan authorities started construction of two water supply projects in the northern Samangan province to benefit 350 families. ■
