ACCRA, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy in Ghana on Friday hosted a reception in Accra, the Ghanaian capital, to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Ghana diplomatic relations.

Addressing the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Tong Defa said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have continued to deepen mutual trust and jointly defend common interests on global issues.

"China highly appreciates Ghana's firm support on China's core interests, including the one-China principle. China also supports Ghana's adherence to the Pan-African tradition. In September 2024, our bilateral relations were elevated to a strategic partnership, which charted a new course for further development," said Tong.

The ambassador also commended the Chinese community in the cocoa-growing, gold- and oil-producing country for their various roles in further deepening the friendship between the two countries.

Ghanaian Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed Ghana's commitment to deepening its friendship and collaboration with China in many areas, including energy, renewable power, digital technology, and trade facilitation within the African Continental Free Trade Area, which would help implement the government's flagship 24-Hour Economy program.

She commended China for the establishment of Confucius Institutes, the deployment of medical teams, and the construction of numerous infrastructural projects in Ghana, while emphasizing the need to maintain the true partnership and friendship that exist between the two countries. ■
